United States of America
Second largest country in North America, the 50 states of the USA have the best infrastructure of all countries in the Western Hemisphere, making travel around the country quick and easy, with access to even the remotest areas in less than a day or two in most cases. It is home to the large tracts of government owned and managed wild lands, of virgin forests and mountainous regions. The wildlife management model developed in the United States during the 20th century is often copied around the world and has performed exceptionally well, creating stable, huntable populations of numerous big game species, some found nowhere else. From the lowland swamps of Florida and Louisiana, to the Great Plains of Kansas and the Dakotas, or the rugged slopes of the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, Wyoming and Montana, or the colorful deserts of Arizona and New Mexico, the USA offers many varied habitats, each with its own palate of species and charms. And then there is Alaska. Alaska, the largest state, beckons hunters from all over the world with the finest big game hunting in all of North America – the largest bears, largest moose and largest caribou are found there, amid and miles and miles of uninhabited wilderness, where the only means of transportation is the bush plane.
The USA is home to two species of bears, two species of moose, three species of wapiti, known locally as elk, six species and a dozen subspecies of deer, four species and subspecies of wild sheep, and other game as diverse as bison, mountain goat, pronghorn antelope and alligator.
Wingshooting in the United States is diverse and in some places developed into a fine art. Special shooting estates, especially in the South, offer the shooting over well-trained pointers and others treat visitors to superb waterfowl gunning during the annual migrations, down the three major flyways in the USA. The wild turkey offers a special challenge for bird hunters and five subspecies are found across the country.
The Hunting Consortium team has hunted and traveled throughout the USA for more than 50 years. We represent dozens of outfitters and operators across this great country, all of whom we know personally and all of whom have long track records for high quality outfitting skill and service. In the western states we hunt primarily on huge private ranches, using landowner permits, to avoid the hit or miss chances of drawing species tags in the various state game lotteries. We have also amassed tremendous experience in the various hunting areas and species-specific hunting techniques, enabling us to provide expert advice on when and where to hunt a particular species, and where the best trophies will be found.
The United States is also renowned for its fabulous fishing, both saltwater and freshwater. From the trout streams of Colorado, to the big bass producing lakes of Texas and Florida, we can offer a great variety of options for the traveling angler. The Atlantic Coast provides excellent fishing for Atlantic sailfish, swordfish, tarpon and snook, as well as many species of bottom fish. The Pacific is no less exciting, with superior shark fishing, billfish, as well as long range charter boats specializing in tuna, and other pelagic species. Hawaii, although not in North America, is part of the United States and in a class by itself as a fishing hot spot. Here the Pacific blue marlin is king, as well as giant dorado (dolphin), wahoo and other blue water species. Our sister company Kraken Worldwide specializes in selecting outstanding fishing venues throughout the USA.
