“With so many hunts out there in the world, you can’t know them all, but Bob Kern does. I have hunted and fished on 6 continents over the past 20 years through the Hunting Consortium and have enjoyed every trip. He has never sent me to a bad one. I can’t say the same for the trips that I have arranged myself. I run a large company, with little time for the details that Bob’s experienced staff handles smoothly and completely. I go about my busy schedule until it’s time to get on the airplane and then do so confident that the upcoming adventure is planned with military precision and a thorough knowledge of the game and hunting area. The more experienced I become at worldwide hunting, the more certain I am to book every hunt through the Hunting Consortium.”
-Paul Dickson

"For almost two decades now, I have asked Bob and Rob Kern to provide me with the best international hunts on planet earth. They have always came through and provided me with some of the most exciting adventures that I have had in my career."
-Jim Shockey

“Best in the business! I have entrusted more than 20 major hunts on 6 continents to Bob and his team at the Hunting Consortium and they have never failed me. Their knowledge and experience has been a great help to me. I can rely on them to know the best operator and the best area for every hunt I want to do and they handle the visas, gun permits, air tickets, hotels, and every other detail - it is a one-stop shop for me, allowing me to focus on my medical practice while Bob and his staff “make it happen” for my hunting trips around the world. They do EVERYTHING, and they do it really well!”

Ethiopia

Ethiopia and its autonomous province of Eritrea are about one and half times the size of Texas. Ethiopia is bordered by the Red Sea and Djibouti to the north, Sudan to the west and Kenya to the south. More than half of the country consists of the Ethiopian Plateau with elevations averaging over 5,000 feet. The Great Rift Valley splits the plateau from northeast to southwest. The highlands of Ethiopia are unquestionably one of the most magnificent settings on the African continent.

There are three primary ecosystems that clients will be hunting in Ethiopia – the mountains of Bale, Odo Bulu, Arusi and Munessa, where the coveted mountain nyala and other mountain forest species are hunted. The Omo and Sala valleys in the southwest, where Nile buffalo, lesser kudu and other savannah game are hunted, and finally the Danakil Desert, in the desolate and hot Afar region where unique desert species such as Soemmerring gazelle and Besia oryx are found.

Hunting in Ethiopia revolves around the magnificent mountain nyala which is the primary attraction for hunters, but Ethiopia also boasts a number of other unique species, which can be hunted nowhere else. These include the Soemmerring’ gazelle, Beisa oryx, Abyssinian greater kudu, Abyssinian bushbuck, Menelik’s bushbuck, Neumann hartebeest, Northern Grant’s gazelle, Northern gerenuk, as well as the Salt’s dik dik and Cordeaux dik dik. The largest lesser kudu in Africa come from Ethiopia.

Harvest quotas have been drastically reduced in recent years and license fees are the highest in Africa, leading to an ever decreasing number of hunters each year- nevertheless, Ethiopia is one of the most beautiful countries in Africa and safaris there are as different in experience as the distinct ecosystems that are found there.

We are proud to represent the best safari companies in Ethiopia, each with its own exclusive hunting concessions. The choice of operator is made based on the species desired and the degree of difficulty in hunting that each client is willing to accept.
