The SCI 2027 Convention returns to Nashville January 20–23, bringing international hunting opportunities, auctions, sporting equipment, and conservation into one gathering at Music City Center. Exhibitions, professional conversations, and educational programming form the foundation of Safari Club International’s annual event. Safari Club International Convention
For serious sportsmen, its value lies in what those conversations reveal. A destination becomes more meaningful when you understand the country beyond the photograph, the people behind the operation, and the preparation behind the pursuit.
Whether this will be your first convention or a familiar January gathering, arrive with interests worth investigating and time to investigate them properly. The objective is not to see everything. It is to leave with a clearer understanding of what deserves your attention.
The main convention runs Wednesday through Saturday. SCI’s published venue and exhibition details are below. All times are Nashville local time, Central Standard Time.
| Detail | Published information |
|---|---|
| Convention dates | January 20–23, 2027 |
| Main venue | Music City Center |
| Address | 201 Rep. John Lewis Way S, Nashville, TN 37203 |
| Exhibition hours | 9 a.m.–5 p.m. daily |
| Advance on-site registration | Tuesday, January 19, 10 a.m.–5 p.m. |
There is an important distinction behind the convention’s sellout announcement: exhibitor space is sold out; attendee registration remains open. SCI announced its fifth consecutive exhibition sellout in Nashville, reflecting demand for space on the floor rather than a closure of visitor admission. Outdoor Wire
Before arranging flights, review the surrounding events as well as the exhibition dates. The published calendar includes associated functions on January 19 and January 24, outside the four-day convention itself.
SCI describes an exhibition floor bringing together professional hunters, outfitters, gunmakers, artists, and other industry participants. That concentration of experience gives visitors an opportunity to examine different approaches to a future hunt.
Begin with the pursuit that matters to you. It may be an African specialist species, a European mountain hunt, or time in North American wilderness. Then move beyond the broad description.
For those planning an African hunt, establish the target species, actual hunting area, intended season, and people responsible for the operation. When considering hunting in Europe, ask how the terrain, daily hunting arrangements, and travel requirements fit your objectives. For a remote North American hunt, make access, camp arrangements, and physical expectations part of the first discussion.
Who will guide you? What does a normal hunting day involve? Which arrangements are included, and which require separate preparation? What recent references can the operator provide?
Be equally clear about your own priorities. Explain the species you hope to pursue, your available time, your preferred hunting style, and any practical limitations. Ask what would make the opportunity unsuitable, not only what makes it appealing.
World-class trophy opportunities deserve realistic expectations. A compelling photograph can introduce a possibility; it cannot establish whether that possibility is right for you.
The most useful conversation should bring the hunt into sharper focus, including the details that require further investigation.
SCI’s published 2027 Auction First Look already includes specific hunting opportunities. Three entries illustrate the range:
| Destination and donor | Published preview |
|---|---|
| British Columbia — Spatsizi River Outfitters | Ten days for one hunter, choosing western Canadian moose, mountain caribou, or mountain goat—not a three-species combination. |
| Uganda — Uganda Wildlife Safaris | A 12-day sitatunga program, including 10 hunting days, for one hunter and one non-hunting companion. |
| Spain — Corju Hunting | A five-day southeastern ibex hunt for two hunters. |
These descriptions come from SCI’s preview entries. They are not independently verified package inclusions, final contracts, or endorsements of the individual operations. Safari Club International Auction
The auction platform lists daytime, evening, and silent sessions, including the Sables Brunch Auction. Some session pages still show individual lots as forthcoming, even though the separate preview contains entries. Consult both resources as the convention approaches.
Treat an auction opportunity with the same care as any other significant hunting commitment. Confirm available dates, hunting days, trophy fees, permits, transfers, additional participants, exclusions, cancellation provisions, and bidding requirements.
Ask for a clear account of the total anticipated commitment rather than assuming the winning bid covers every expense. Resolve important questions before bidding, and retain the written terms.
The right auction opportunity is one whose timing, conditions, and complete arrangements suit the hunter. An arresting description is a reason to investigate—not a substitute for doing so.
The official 2027 exhibitor listing includes the following names and booth assignments. They offer a selective starting point for planning time on the floor, rather than a ranked recommendation. A2Zinc
| Exhibitor | Listed booth |
|---|---|
| Holland & Holland | 1301 |
| HEYM | 919 |
| Swarovski Optik | 1335 |
| Leupold & Stevens | 923 |
| Stone Glacier | 658 |
Recheck assignments in the live directory before your visit.
Approach equipment conversations with an intended application in mind. Discuss fit, weight, field conditions, durability, and service support. With sporting firearms, take time to examine craftsmanship and suitability rather than allowing appearance alone to settle the question.
The same discipline applies to optics and clothing. Bring the conditions of the intended hunt into the discussion: what must the equipment do, what compromises are acceptable, and what preparation will it require?
SCI’s optics auction preview also lists Leica Geovid Pro 10×42 AB+ rangefinding binoculars. This is a published auction item, not evidence of a new-product debut at the convention. Safari Club International Auction
The gathering also provides an opportunity to understand the work behind the organization.
SCI identifies hunting advocacy and sustainable-use wildlife conservation as central to its mission. SCI Foundation describes a complementary focus on science-driven conservation, education, and partnerships, with programs involving African big cats, North American wildlife, and anti-poaching efforts.
According to SCI, convention auction proceeds support hunter advocacy alongside SCI Foundation’s conservation and education programs. That is the organization’s stated fundraising purpose; it should not be mistaken for a claim that every hunting operation produces identical conservation outcomes.
For the visiting sportsman, stewardship belongs in the practical conversation. Ask how wildlife is managed in the area under consideration, how responsible conduct is maintained, and how the operation contributes to the country in which it works.
Education deserves time on the itinerary as well. SCI states that seminar admission is included with a convention badge. However, the complete 2027 timetable was not verified at this review, and the linked schedule page still displayed a 2026 date. Check for the new program rather than relying on an earlier edition.
A first convention visit does not require a settled destination. It does benefit from a manageable shortlist.
Identify a few hunting interests and the conversations most likely to advance them. Use the official directory to establish priorities, then leave room for an unexpected introduction or an opportunity that warrants a second discussion.
Be prepared to explain timing, preferred species, travel expectations, and physical requirements. A precise account of what you are seeking gives a professional something useful to respond to.
Returning visitors should bring fresh questions to familiar relationships. What has changed in the operation? Who is guiding now? Are the arrangements still appropriate for the hunt you have in mind? Which assumptions from an earlier conversation need to be revisited?
Take notes that distinguish confirmed information from matters requiring follow-up. Before leaving a productive discussion, agree on what information should come next.
There is no need to force a decision simply because the convention is ending. A worthwhile visit should leave you with fewer uncertainties, better questions, and a sound basis for the next stage of planning.
The published calendar extends beyond the exhibition floor. Consider these functions before settling your arrival and departure dates:

Choose the evenings that matter to you, then allow sufficient time between daytime conversations and evening commitments. Check individual ticket requirements, venue details, and attire before packing.
A complete 2027 entertainment lineup has not been verified for this article. Previous-year performers should not be assumed to be returning. Use SCI’s current event information for announcements, and reconfirm exact times before travel.

SCI describes the convention as members-only, with an important exception: each active member may bring one non-member guest with paid registration.
SCI’s hotel page currently identifies its Omni Nashville convention accommodation as sold out. It lists alternatives including the Renaissance, Grand Hyatt, and JW Marriott. This should not be read as a statement that every room at the Omni, or throughout Nashville, is unavailable.
Use the links on SCI’s official hotel page. The organization specifically warns visitors about unauthorized hotel-booking approaches and scams. Safari Club International Convention
Choose accommodation around the complete visit: walking distances, mobility needs, evening venues, and the time you intend to spend on the floor.
Nashville International Airport is BNA. Its current guidance places Uber and Lyft operations at the Ground Transportation Center, on Level 1 of Terminal Garage 2. Recheck the airport’s instructions before departure.
Allow room in the itinerary for airport transfers, registration, and movement between venues. Avoid building your first important conversation immediately against an arrival time. Precision planning is useful well before the hunt itself.
January 20–23, 2027, at Music City Center in Nashville, Tennessee. The main exhibition runs Wednesday through Saturday.
Membership is normally required. Each active member may bring one non-member guest, who must have paid registration.
Check the precise inclusions of your selected registration or event package. Do not assume that an exhibition badge includes every dinner, auction function, or entertainment event.
